While the Mariners top 10 prospect rankings won’t be a big shock to anyone who nerds out on the future of the teal tridents, we will provide updates to their current stats weekly. At the very least, this will save you time from searching milb.com and getting distracted by alternate minor league jerseys and hats. Like this one.
It’s hard not to get excited about Emerson and Montes. For Emerson to have less strikeouts than walks at only 18 years old in single A is incredible. He also has hit for average and shown a little pop already. I can see him emerging as the M’s #1 prospect. For Montes, what isn’t to like? Look at those numbers! Again, a BB/K ratio almost 1:1 is encouraging. I can’t wait to see what happens if he gets promoted to AA.
On the flip side, Cole Young is off to a slow start. I’d like to see him get hot soon and improve those metrics, but the stolen bases are encouraging. Tai Peete really needs to improve. 39 K’s is a lot for this early in the year.
