Weekend Gambling Picks

June 1-2

The most important thing to know about betting on sports is that you need to gamble within your means. For example, if you are a “teacher”, one unit might be the equivilant of $5. But if you are a “high class, famous lawyer living in the Bay Area”, one unit might be $500. Either way, use only money you are willing to lose (think about the money you would use buying a weedwacker you don’t need or a dinner out you really don’t need to go to because you have food in the fridge).

Each weekend, you will get my best picks in a variety of sports. Tail them if you want. Fade them if you dare. Either way, this is all meant to be fun.

Lastly, go visit a local business to make your bets like the Muckleshoot Casino. Don’t do some weird offshore account thing that is actually illegal.

Yep, that’s where we start. The WNBA is an untapped, undervalued market where there are some great lines.

Connecticut Sun -2.5 at Atlanta Dream (6/2)

The Connecticut Sun are good and an absolute pain in the ass to play against. I don’t believe in the Dream just yet despite a 4-2 record. A let down game after beating the Aces is coming for the Dream. Take the Sun despite giving some points.

Phoenix Mercury -4.5 vs. Los Angeles Sparks (6/2)

The Sparks are not a good team. They have average guards at best and Cameron Brink, despite being better than I thought, will pick up three fouls in three minutes to start this game. Take the Mercury.

Reid Detmers (Angels) over 5.5 strikeouts vs. Mariners (6/1)

There has never been a bet more likely to hit than anything involving the Mariners and strikeouts.

Garrett Crochet (White Sox) under 7.5 strikeouts vs. Brewers (6/1)

Crochet is very confusing as he will either rack up 11 strikeouts or around 6. He is never in the 8-9 range anymore. The Brewers are good enough to keep him under this number.

New York Rangers +1.5 vs. Florida (6/1)

There is no way the Rangers are going out quietly in this series. We deserve a game seven in Madison Square Garden. And by “we”, I mean anyone who watches hockey. Not me necessarily, but other people.
